Understanding Cannabinoids: The Science They Don’t Teach You 🌱

Most people think they know cannabis because they’ve been smoking for twenty-plus years. But when I ask them about cannabinoids, they get lost real quick. 🤔

All cannabis starts with CBGA, the "mother cannabinoid." From there, it branches into different paths:

  • High-CBD plants convert CBGA into CBD. 🌿

  • High-THC plants convert CBGA into THCA. 🔥

  • THCA then turns into Delta 9 THC when exposed to heat (a process called decarboxylation). 💥

But here’s where people really get it wrong—THCA doesn’t just turn into Delta 9. It also converts into Delta 8, Delta 10, THCP, and THCV through natural processes. These cannabinoids are not some lab-created gimmicks—they exist in the cannabis plant, but in smaller amounts. 🌱✨

Now, this is where people start arguing. Someone at the booth will swear up and down that Delta 8 and Delta 10 are fake, while only Delta 9 is "real." 😒 The truth? All of these cannabinoids are part of the same plant and play a role in how cannabis affects you. Delta 8, for example, occurs naturally in cannabis, but in small amounts, so it’s often extracted and concentrated. That doesn’t make it fake—it makes it efficient. 🔬

The Real Difference: Naturally Occurring vs. Lab Adjustments 🔬

Some cannabinoids need a little extra nudge in the lab to become usable in larger amounts. This is where HHC, HHCO, and THCO come in. Unlike Delta 8, Delta 9, Delta 10, THCP, and THCV—which occur naturally in the plant—these cannabinoids are made using slight modifications. Some people hear that and immediately panic, but guess what? 😅

The dispensary products they swear by go through the same kind of processing. 🔄

If you’ve ever smoked a THCA live resin cart, guess what? That didn’t just "grow" like that. It was extracted, processed, and refined. The same goes for distillates, isolates, and a ton of other dispensary products. The industry just slaps a different name on it and charges you more. 💸

So Why Does This Matter? 🤔

Because people have been trained to fear what they don’t understand. They’ve been told that hemp products are "fake" while dispensary products are "real," when in reality, all cannabis is cannabis. The only real difference is how it’s grown, processed, and marketed. 🌍

So if you’re still turning your nose up at Delta 8 or THCP while hitting a distillate pen from a dispensary, ask yourself—do you really know what you’re smoking? 🤷‍♂️
